Globally recognized as the “Hospital of Padre Pio,” the IRCCS Ospedale Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza is a "classified religious hospital" with a high degree of specialization. It is one of Italy's largest university hospitals and a critical healthcare hub for Central and Southern Italy.
In addition to its clinical and care services, Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza is engaged in cutting-edge scientific research under its designation as an IRCCS (Scientific Institute for Research, Hospitalization, and Healthcare). Its focus is on "Genetic Diseases, Innovative Therapies, and Regenerative Medicine," conducted in close collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Health and leading research centers across Italy and Europe.
Although not formally a university institution, Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza has strong affiliations with numerous universities and academic departments. It is affiliated with several medical specialization schools and hosts the Bachelor’s Degree program in Nursing Sciences offered by the University of Foggia.
