Gender Equality Plan

The Gender Equality Plan (GEP) is a requirement introduced by the European Commission to enable IRCCS Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza to participate in specific EU-funded programs.

The European Commission mandates that beneficiaries of certain funding programs adopt comprehensive measures to promote equal opportunities, formalized in a Gender Equality Plan. The GEP serves as a regulatory framework that defines the gender equality strategy of IRCCS Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza.
According to the European Commission, the GEP must meet the following minimum mandatory requirements:

  • A formal document published on the institution's website and signed by top management;
  • Allocation of dedicated resources and development of expertise in gender equality for the plan’s implementation;
  • Collection and monitoring of data and indicators;
  • Training for staff and management on gender equality issues.

Through its Gender Equality Plan regulations, IRCCS Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza addresses the key areas outlined in the law, with planned activities focused on:

  • Work-life balance and organizational culture;
  • Gender balance in leadership roles and decision-making processes;
  • Gender equality in recruitment and career advancement;
  • Integration of the gender dimension into research and training content;
  • Measures to prevent gender-based violence, including harassment.
