Pink Ribbons

The ONDA–National Observatory on Women’s and Gender Health has reaffirmed its highest recognition of three Pink Ribbons for IRCCS Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza for the 2022–2023 biennium.

Pink Ribbons, awarded in levels of three, two, or one, recognize Italian hospitals that demonstrate a strong commitment to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of major diseases affecting women, as well as those impacting both men and women through a gender-sensitive approach.

The evaluation is based on three key criteria: the presence of clinical specialties addressing health issues specific to women and cross-gender conditions; the availability of services designed to accommodate female patients, including support for diagnostic and therapeutic pathways; and the hospital’s readiness to manage cases involving victims of physical or verbal violence.

In Puglia, only four hospitals have received the top rating of three Pink Ribbons, and among them, IRCCS Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza is the sole institution in North-Central Puglia to earn this distinction.

Caring for women—not just as patients, but also as workers, professionals, mothers, caregivers, and individuals who play pivotal roles in families and society—means prioritizing their health while addressing all aspects of the broader female experience.
