Occupational Health and Safety
This function is carried out by staff reporting directly to the Legal Representative. It encompasses technical and organizational expertise to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, supporting General Management in defining corporate policies that safeguard the health and safety of employees, patients, and visitors across all Foundation facilities. Staff is organized into:
- Prevention and Protection Service (SPP)
- Occupational Medicine
- Health Physics
The Prevention and Protection Service (SPP), legally mandated as a non-delegable responsibility of the Legal Representative, has adopted a process-based structure to address the organizational complexity of the IRCCS. This structure coordinates technical, managerial, and organizational activities focused on workplace safety and the protection of the health of all individuals performing work activities within the hospital and other Foundation facilities.
The primary macro-processes managed by the SPP include: Conducting risk assessments and identifying measures to ensure health and safety in the workplace, Developing safety procedures and emergency management protocols, Proposing and implementing information and training programs for workers, Establishing and monitoring systems to verify the effectiveness and compliance of adopted safety measures.
Occupational Medicine is dedicated to protecting the health of hospital personnel and preventing work-related illnesses. Its core activities include: Health surveillance and medical radioprotection, Promoting health through vaccination campaigns, guidance on healthy lifestyles, and preventive screenings, Contact tracing and managing incidents involving biological hazards, Supporting corporate welfare initiatives.
Health Physics provides specialized expertise in the application of medical and health physics to diagnostic and therapeutic medicine, with a particular focus on the use of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. The Health Physics team includes Radiation Protection Experts, as defined by Legislative Decree 101/2020.
