Biostatistic unit

The Biostatistics Unit provides indispensable methodological and epidemiological support for research activities and plays an active role in managing statistical analyses for projects conducted by the Research Laboratories and Clinical Operational Units at Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza. The unit is deeply involved in the planning and design of clinical studies and trials.

Equipped with cutting-edge data analysis software and artificial intelligence tools, the unit focuses on a wide range of methodological and applied research areas, including:

  • Development of predictive models and risk engines
  • Tree-based classification algorithms and Random Forests
  • Propensity Score methodology and Marginal Structural Models for observational studies
  • Advanced techniques in meta-analysis and meta-regression
  • Sophisticated statistical and computational methods in genetics
  • Survival analysis and longitudinal data modeling
  • Bayesian statistics
  • Spatial epidemiology and point process modeling
  • Adaptive and Bayesian approaches to clinical trial design
