Childbirth Preparation Courses
Organized by specialists from the Obstetrics and Gynecology Unit of Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza, prenatal classes serve as an essential resource for actively promoting maternal and neonatal health.
Expectant mothers will be guided throughout the course by a midwife, who will act as their primary healthcare point of contact.
The midwife will be joined at various times by other specialists—including an obstetrician-gynecologist, neonatologist and neonatal care staff, psychologist, child neuropsychiatrist, and anesthesiologist—ensuring that participants are well-prepared for childbirth and for caring for their newborn.
The course is recommended during the third trimester of pregnancy and consists of 10 sessions. It offers expectant mothers valuable guidance on managing pregnancy and childbirth, practical tools and exercises for labor, and essential information on breastfeeding.
Participation requires a referral from the patient’s primary care physician or gynecologist, which must be registered at the hospital ticket office.
In accordance with COVID-19 safety protocols, these classes are currently limited to expectant mothers only (partners and future fathers cannot attend). Participants must present a valid Green Pass to access the sessions.
