Always at Prayer

Padre Pio’s constant prayer was the channel through which countless graces flowed. His prayer was unbroken, day and night, and it is almost incomprehensible how he managed it—even though much of it was mental prayer, transcending the mere mechanics of spoken words. Often, his hand would rest in the breast pocket of his habit, steadily moving the beads of the rosary. The rosary was his foundation, the continuous thread that ran through his entire day.

He prayed tens upon tens of complete rosaries, each consisting of fifteen decades—a staggering and almost unimaginable feat. Beyond this, his prayer life was further enriched by the prayers of the Mass, other liturgical devotions, and his Visit to the Blessed Sacrament, accompanied by prayers to the Virgin Mary. These devotions culminated in the Eucharistic Benediction, which he faithfully performed every evening for as long as his strength allowed.
